What I’m Loving Wednesday 11-20-13

1. Dear Wedding Dress Hanging So Beautifully in My Closet,

Thanksgiving is just about a week away (what?!). Remember those things called vegetables and balanced eating?

Those days are about to be over.

If there was any question whether or not I could still fit into you, I’m about to answer that once and for all with a loud NO. But you know what, I’m perfectly okay with that, because Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season is worth it.

2. Speaking of worth it, these are the bestttttt. Greg and I bought this giant container of frosted animal cookies in August. We ate them all very quickly and have since not been able to replenish our supply, because they have been sold out every time we check. It’s for the best, especially in light of #1 above.

3. Being healthy again! Okay, I know that sounds contradictory to my first two points, but I mean healthy, as in not sick. I came down with terrible cold last week that left me extremely drowsy and unable to breathe. I am finally now getting the last of the sniffles out of me. Praise the Lord.

4. Not being good enough. My friend Robbin recently posted a link to this article titled “You’re Not Good Enough to Be Disappointed.” I actually found it encouraging. Like the author writes, we don’t have the right to be disappointed in shortcomings or failures when doing something where we are not pros. I need to view “failures” as lessons learned and stepping stones towards reaching my goals. Go read it!!

5. Greg is home! He went on a cruise with some of his friends for a bachelor party from Thursday through Tuesday (yesterday). It was the longest amount of time we have been apart in years. For some of you who travel for work or whose significant others travel, I give you a lot of credit. I couldn’t do this every week or month. Zoey and I missed him SO much. I’m happy to have my little family reunited just in time for the craziness of the holiday season.

What are you loving this week?

What I’m Loving Wednesday (9-11-13)

1. Today my baby girl turns ONE YEAR OLD! Can you tell how thrilled she is?

She has been such a blessing in my life. She makes me smile and laugh every single day and I truly can’t imagine life without her.

P.S. I’ve said this before, but I really don’t know how I will be able to handle the love of a real human baby one day. My heart is so full of love being a puppy mom already. Plus, I’ve already used just about every possible nickname on Zoey that I would feel bad using the same ones on a human.

2. After taking most of the summer off, this evening we got together with some friends to start a new Bible study series. We are using the book Follow Me. I am looking forward to seeing our friends on a regular basis again and growing our relationships with God, both individually and as a group. The small group studies that we started together earlier this year have been life-changing for me.

3. This song. Ohmygosh I can’t get enough. I first heard it at a church service with my friend Hannah a few weeks ago and haven’t been able to stop listening to it. I listen on my short drive to work in the morning, when I need help de-stressing at work, on evening walks and sometimes going to sleep at night.

4. Homemade pizza! Pizza has consistently made it’s way into our weekly dinner menu as of late. I switch it up a little each time in terms of shape, crust thickness and toppings. Last night, I topped the thick crust with bacon/pepperoni/caramelized onion/jalapeno for Greg, and reserved a quadrant of the pie for me with asparagus/caramelized onion/goat cheese. Not too pretty, but awfully delicious.
5. Although today is a somber day of remembrance for all of those who were affected on 9/11/01, I like to see the silver lining. We will never forget how we felt that day, but the tragic events brought our country closer together. It is just another reason to be grateful for the country we get to call home and proud of all of those who fight to defend our freedom, making this country so great.
6. Hearing your thoughts! Tell me something you’re loving…ready, go!

What I’m Loving Wednesday (8-29-12)

It’s about that time for another WILW post, dontcha think?

1. Two nights in a row of cooking some of my favorite tried and true recipes.

Sloppy Joes, that I’m renaming Super Spicy Sloppy Joes. I used less spice and hot sauce than my recipe called for and my mouth was still on fire two bites into the sandwich.

Morning Star Copycat Black Bean Burgers with homemade guacamole and corn on the cob? Ohmuhgosh. I could eat this every single night.
2. This. This is what I call Heaven in a Cardboard Container. Have you tried any of Duff’s (aka the Cake Boss’s) Blue Bunny ice cream flavors yet? This Red Carpet Red Velvet Cake ice cream is to die for. I bought this on my dinner break while working a late shift last week and it’s safe to say this is only thing that kept me going at my desk until 10pm.

3. A coffee mug filled with hot oatmeal. Don’t forget the sliced bananas and chai seeds! This is how I’ve been starting my workday for the past two weeks. I’ve gotten in a poor habit of sleeping until the last minute and not having quite enough time to eat my breakfast at home. Solution? Bring my oatmeal to work in a mug!
4. Oh look, it’s my Lost Dog Cafe mug again! I sure do put that thing to use. After cleaning the oatmeal out of it, I fill it with what it’s actually meant for- Coffee! These rainy days call for a warm and comforting afternoon snack like a hot cup of coffee and a chocolatey Good Greens bar (Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor).

5. Out of all of this foodie goodness, the thing I am loving most about this Wednesday is that it’s my last full day here in Charleston before my trip HOME!! Tomorrow evening, Greg and I will be hopping on a plane to Columbus for a full weekend of cake tastings, meetings with the caterer, engagement pictures and some much needed family time. I. Can’t. Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aren’t we precious? 😉

What I’m Loving Wednesday

1. Chipotle has finally arrived in the Lowcountry! Charleston’s first Chipotle opened recently right by Greg’s office and the second is apparently coming in the fall and will be even more convenient for me.

Greg only worked a half-day on Memorial Day, while I had to work the whole day. He offered to meet me at home with Chipotle for lunch. Best lunchdate ever.

I had a veggie burrito bowl and loved every last bite.

2. Not quite on the same level as Chipotle, but this salad I made myself for lunch yesterday is delicious in its own right. Salads are so much more enjoyable when you have the right toppings. For me, that means: strawberries, goat cheese crumbles, avocado and raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I also sliced some onion and zucchini for this one, but those are not required 🙂
3. Birthday celebrations! My friend and former college roommate Megan celebrated her birthday yesterday, as well as our other friend Clare. A big group of us went to Taco Boy for dinner and one of our friends even brought a funfetti cake for dessert! Love. Too bad I inhaled it without getting a picture.
(P.S. I didn’t even edit this picture or use Instagram…just the result of an iPhone picture taken with the flash in a dim restaurant)

4. Being engaged! Ab-so-lutely loving it. I started a Wedding Ideas board on Pinterest and started my wedding magazine collection yesterday. Figuring out a date is proving to be a little stressful, but once I can nail that down, the real fun will begin!
Tell me something YOU love today!

What I’m Loving Wednesday

I’ve been reading fellow bloggers’ “What I’m Loving Wednesday” posts for some time now and this week I feel extra compelled to jump on the band wagon. I have been obsessed with a couple foods recently and it only feels right to let you in on my indulgences.

1. What am I loving most, you ask? At the top of my list is this…

Publix Premium Frozen Yogurt. Last week it was strawberry. This week? Homemade cinnamon – made by stirring about 1/4-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon into the plain vanilla. This humble tub of simple vanilla yogurt is seriously my new favorite thing.
I wasn’t expecting much from the generic brand of fro-yo, but Publix deserves an award for this. The stuff is so creamy, and with only 100 calories per serving, I don’t feel the least bit guilty for eating two servings at a time. The strawberry flavor was awesome, but I felt like switching it up after cleaning out that container so quickly. Sprinkling the cinnamon into the vanilla was the most genius thing I have done in awhile.
2. Lucky Charms

Disclaimer: Photo is not an accurate portrayal of grain-to-marshmallow ratio. One could only DREAM there were actually that many marshmallows to fill the bowl.
I was stuck on Kashi Go Lean Crunch for a good part of the past year. Recently, I discovered Cinnamon Burst and Peanut Butter Multi-Grain Cheerios. But there’s nothing like a good ol’ bowl of Lucky Charms.
I do prefer to eat more nutritious cereals (more fiber, protein and whole grain), but what can I say? They really are magically delicious.
3. Ok seriously? Look at this thing…

Photo pinned from here.
I could die. Right now. Just DIE for a piece of this.
This might be the first thing I make when Lent is over and I can dig myself back into some cocoa and chocolate chips. Until then, I must make-do with just loving the pictures and imaging how good it tastes.
4. I love that I have three once beautiful yellow bananas that have turned ugly and brown. This only means one thing.
Banana Chocolate Chip Bread (or muffins) are in my very near future.
Can’t wait!
What are you loving this week?
