First off, thank you to everyone who has filled out my survey so far. If you haven’t yet, I highly encourage you to do so. I’m completely unbiased of course 😉 But really, it only takes a couple of minutes at the most and I absolutely love reading the responses. I am excited to use your feedback to improve Counting My Cupcakes.
Moving right along.
It has been quite awhile since I’ve done a Sunday Blessings post. If you’re newer around here, or if you just need to catch up, you can read previous Sunday Blessings posts here (note: this page is not 100% up to date. I’ll fix that soon!).
I feel compelled to write today about how my faith in God’s plan has led to some pretty amazing things recently. While I am so blessed to feel God’s presence with me on a daily basis, this past Friday I experienced direct communication with God on a level I haven’t felt in a long time – maybe never. Hebrews 11 will be in my head and heart forever.
I can’t go into many details just yet, but I can tell you after months of prayer and patience, I am thrilled to see God’s plan for me in action. (No, I’m not pregnant. It’s become quite the popular question. I guess that comes with getting married, huh?)
Change is coming my way. While it’s usually difficult for me, I find peace in prayer and knowing if I continually seek God’s guidance, I will be on the right path. On Friday morning, I was confronted with a time of serious unsureness (fun fact: that’s actually a word! I had to look it up, but found “unsureness” is in the dictionary).
I didn’t have my Bible with me, so I opened the handy-dandy Bible app on my phone. I didn’t know what I wanted to read in particular, but knew reading God’s word would help me at that time. Hebrews 11 was the first chapter that popped up, so I began to read. After reading the first verse, I knew my prayers were answered. I continued to read the entire chapter, smiling most of the time, feeling so assured by my faith. GOD WAS SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO ME.
Hebrews 11 references story after story of people in the Bible who showed extreme faith even when others doubted them or when they had to go completely outside of their comfort zone to follow God’s will. In the end, they were rewarded with God’s glory.
If there is one word besides faith that stood out to me in that chapter, it is “assured.” I went from feeling unsure to assured about my personal life decisions in a matter of seconds and know there is only one guy who can do that to me – my Lord and Father.
The power of prayer is an amazing thing, and so is the power of faith. They go hand-in-hand after all. With a little prayer and a little faith, God can give you confidence and assurance in every decision you make.
Have you experienced anything like this? Throughout my entire life, I have listened to my grandma tell stories of God performing miracles and answering her prayers. I have always been in awe of her and her relationship with God. Experiences like this in my own life bring me so much joy, as I can only hope to have as many miracles to share to my grandchildren one day. Love you, GG!
