Cupcake Camp Charleston 2012

Yesterday I had the honor to participate in Cupcake Camp Charleston, an annual event where people gather to eat free cupcakes and, more importantly, raise funds and awareness for various charities. This year was the third Cupcake Camp Charleston and the chosen charity for the year was the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

You may remember the Cupcake Masacre of 2011. I attempted to contribute to the event last year, but had a little meltdown and it didn’t happen. So when I saw Camp was about five minutes away from home this year, I was confident I could make it without spilling cupcakes all over my car 🙂

Unfortunately, with limited time, a relatively small kitchen, plus a new puppy running around, I was only able to bake a couple batches of cupcakes. My humble display was nothing compared to some of the amazing creations other bakers made (keep scrolling for those pics!).

Within about ten minutes, my cupcakes were gone! The Cookies ‘n Cream were popular for the younger kids, while the Double Chocolate Pumpkin seemed to be more popular for the adults. (I will be posting both recipes later this week!)
I left Camp with a variety of cupcakes from other bakers including Chocolate Peanut Butter, Bananas Foster, Sweet Potato, Maple Bacon, and Praline Pecan.
It was so much fun to meet all of the other bakers and see what they came up with. Between the amateur bakers, the professionals, and everyone else who came to eat, I think it’s safe to say we all had a great time.
Cupcake Camps are popping up all over the place. Check out this site to see if there is one coming near you! (Note: It looks like the site may be a little outdated)

  1. YUMMM! Your cupcakes look great. A sweet potato cupcake sounds totally interesting. Glad you had fun. I wish I could have come- I have a cousin with CF
